SIOUX FALLS — Beginning May 27, Cliff Avenue will be closed to all traffic from north of the existing northbound Interstate 229 exit ramps to 38th Street in Sioux Falls.
The closure is needed for the contractor to reconstruct this portion of Cliff Avenue and the Sioux Falls Lincoln High School parking lot.
This portion of Cliff Avenue is scheduled to be closed until mid-August. A signed detour will be provided to motorists utilizing 33rd Street, 57th Street, and Minnesota Avenue to navigate around the work zone.
Once reopened, traffic will be restored in one lane both northbound and southbound.
This closure is part of a larger overall project that will reconstruct I-229 exit 4 (Cliff Avenue) and includes lighting, signals, mainline interstate work, two structure replacements and median crossovers.
Motorists are reminded to use caution and reduce their speed while workers and equipment are present.
The prime contractor on this $48 million project is T&R Contracting Inc. of Sioux Falls. The overall completion date is June 2027.
