Sioux Valley and Arlington each won games in girls basketball action on Tuesday night. The Cossacks took down Deubrook Area 52-48 and the Cardinals blew out Madison 51-19.

Sioux Valley and Arlington each won games in girls basketball action on Tuesday night. The Cossacks took down Deubrook Area 52-48 and the Cardinals blew out Madison 51-19.
Elkton-Lake Benton fell to Tri-Valley in the other area game.
WHITE — Despite falling behind in the first quarter, the Cossacks pulled off the victory and won their fifth-straight game.
Deubrook led 15-11 after the first quarter. The Cossacks then outscored the Dolphins 19-8 in the second quarter and took a 30-23 lead into halftime.
Sioux Valley extended the lead to 42-34 at the end of the third. The Dolphins then had a 14-10 advantage in the fourth but came up short in the final score.
Sioux Valley shot 34.6% from the field and was 8-of-27 from three. The Cossacks were led by Amari Ward who had 14 points, five assists and five rebounds. Talya Vincent had 11 points and Liberty Trygstad had eight. Keyra Kruse had nine points and six rebounds. Massey Top had six points and Kailey Cradduck had four points and 10 rebounds.
Deubrook shot 43.9% from the field and was 2-of-8 from beyond the arc. Kylee Johnson and Mataya Gous each had 11 points to lead the Dolphins. Gouws had seven rebounds and Johnson had five boards. Matte Buaman had eight points and Zoey Molengraaf had seven. Carly Engelstad had six points.
The Dolphins won the rebound battle 28-26. Sioux Valley had 13 turnovers and Deubrook had 21. The Cossacks were 8-of-13 at the free throw line and the Dolphins were 10-of-13 at the charity stripe.
Sioux Valley improved to 5-1 and hosts Hamlin on Jan. 14 at 6:30 p.m. Deubrook dropped to 5-2 and plays Iroquois/Lake Preston in Lake Preston on Thursday at 6:15 p.m.
ARLINGTON — It was a strong performance for the Cardinals on Tuesday night. They led 16-5 at the end of the first quarter and extended the lead to 31-11 at halftime. Arlington pushed the lead to 49-18 by the end of the third quarter and the two teams combined for three points in the final frame.
Arlington shot 37.5% from the field and was 6-of-15 from three. Jaelyn Huntimer had a monster night for the Cardinals with 30 points and six rebounds. Ellisyn Vincent had seven points and six boards. Emarie Vincent had six points.
Madison shot 20% from the field and was 1-of-12 from three. Lindsey King and Jaya Engles led the Lady Bulldogs with five points each.
Arlington had a 30-24 advantage in rebounds. The Cardinals had 17 turnovers and the Lady Bulldogs had 24. Arlington was 15-of-19 at the free throw line and Madison was 6-of-17.
The Cardinals improved to 4-3 and host Deuel on Jan. 14 at 7 p.m.
ELKTON — It was a tough night for the Lady Elks. They were outscored 32-9 in the first half and then 18-5 in the second half.
Charlie Thooft led ELB with six points. Adison Renkly and Sydney DeVries each had three points and Jaelyn Prosch had two points.
Tri-Valley was led by Maddie Wenzel who had 10 points. Izzy Davey had nine points and Emry Jones had eight points.
ELB dropped to 3-3 and hosts Florence/Henry on Friday at 7:45 p.m.
