HARFORD — The Sioux Valley boys’ golf team finished in seventh place at the Class A Boys State Golf Tournament on Tuesday afternoon at Central Valley Golf Course in Harford.
After shooting a 246 in round one, the Cossacks followed it up with a 349 in round two. Tate Steffensen led the way for Sioux Valley as he tied for 16th. He shot a 78 on Tuesday and a 160 for the tournament. Damon Uecker tied for 40th with a total of 174 after shooting a 90 on Tuesday.
Jameson Degan tied for 50th after firing an 88 on Tuesday, totaling a 178 for the tournament. Maverick Nelson tied for 58th with a total of 183 and a 93 in round two. Nathan Larson shot a 101 in round two and had a total of 212 to tie for 88th.
Dakota Valley won the team championship with a total score of 615. Vermillion came in second (629) and Aberdeen Roncalli came in third (661). St. Thomas More finished in fourth (664) and Groton Area came in fifth (666).
Dakota Valley’s Logan Collette was the individual state champion as he shot a total of 149. Carson Steffensen came in second (150). Milbank’s Jonathan DeBoer and St. Thomas More’s Vincent Vanliere tied for third (151). Dakota Valley’s Matt DeBeer rounded out the top five (153).
