Flandreau, Elkton-Lake Benton boys eliminated in Region playoffs

Flandreau and Elkton-Lake Benton were all eliminated in the Boys Basketball Region Playoffs over the weekend.

The Fliers lost to Madison 49-35 in Region 3A. Elkton-Lake Benton fell to Deuel 64-40 in Region 2B. 

Flandreau 35, Madison 49

FLANDREAU — The Fliers had a rally in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough on Friday night.

Madison held a 13-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Fliers then outscored the Bulldogs 10-8 in the second quarter and cut the lead to 21-19 at halftime. Madison flexed its muscles in the third quarter as it outscored Flandreau 17-9 and led 38-28 going into the fourth. The Fliers came back in the fourth but came up short and their season came to a close. 

Flandreau was led by Micah Otto who had 12 points. Alexavier Poitra had 10 points.

Myles Schneider had 18 points to lead the Bulldogs.

Flandreau finished the year with a record of 11-10. 

Deuel 64, Elkton-Lake Benton 40

CLEAR LAKE — Deuel led 19-3 at the end of the first quarter and then cruised the rest of the way. The Cardinals led 41-16 at halftime and then extended that lead to 58-26 by the end of the third. ELB outscored Deuel 14-6 in the final quarter.

The Elks were led by Tanner Stein who had 13 points. Eliot Erickson had eight points. 

Caden Finnesand had 19 points to lead the Cardinals. Jaxon Peterreins had 14 points and Gabe Sather had 13 points. Caleb Ronne had eight points.

ELB finished the season with a record of 12-9.
