Flandreau's Wiese, Cossack girls win at Big East Conference Meet

VOLGA — Flandreau’s Faith Wiese came in first place individually and the Sioux Valley girls won the team title in the Big East Conference Meet on Thursday afternoon at Meadowcreek Golf Course.

Wiese had a time of 18:44.98. 

Sioux Valley had 22 points as a team. Maci Licht was the top finisher for the Cossacks and she came in fourth (21:02.26). Amia Ward finished right behind Licht in fifth (21:08.29) and Talya Vincent came in seventh (21:24.20). Lillie Schmit came in 10th (21:51.64).

The Flandreau girls came in second with 26 points. Calla Wiese came in third (20:35.26). Kiley Westberry and Tenley LeBrun finished in 12th (22:14.14) and 13th (22:21.37), respectively. Willow Stephens and Genesis Martinez Soto finished in 16th (23:22.12) and 17th (23:29.11), respectively. 

The Flandreau boys finished in third with 42 points. Logan Kontz and Nathaniel Hobbie finished in fifth (18:37.15) and sixth (18:48.97), respectively. Sam Schmidt came in 10th (19:06.44) and Wyatt Kontz came in 22nd (20:06.62). Franklin Donis Castillo came in 23rd (20:16.16) and Teague Bergjord finished in 28th (22:01.09).

The Sioux Valley boys came in fourth with 54 points. Carson Wosje led the way for the Cossacks, coming in second (18:08.88). Levi Axtell came in 15th (19:34.51) and Jackson Hestermann came in 18th (19:40.17). Dubhlainn Vermeulen came in 19th (19:48.36) and Bret Milton came in 24th (20:41.15).

Both Flandreau and Sioux Valley will compete in the Region 2A Meet on Wednesday in Garretson.
