SCARSDALE, N.Y. — Parker Edens, head men’s golf coach at South Dakota State, has advanced to the round of 16 at the United States Golf Association Mid-Amateur Championship at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club.
Edens opened the U.S. Mid-Am over the weekend with 36 total holes of stroke play. He finished 3-over in stroke play and earned the No. 54 seed for match play, which started Tuesday.
Edens topped No. 11 Brady Shivers 5 & 3 in the round of 64 Tuesday morning, then beat No. 22 Preston Dembowiak 2 & 1 in the round of 32.
The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of match play will be played Wednesday. Should Edens advance, the championship match is set for Thursday.
Edens qualified for the Mid-Am after a series of successes over the summer, including a victory at the 2023 South Dakota Golf Association Mid-Amateur Tournament in June.
The U.S. Mid-Amateur is open to any amateur golfer who has reached their 25th birthday as of Sept. 9 and whose Handicap Index does not exceed 3.4.
