BUSHNELL — A 34-year-old man from Hendricks, Minnesota, was killed in a head-on collision with a dump truck near Bushnell on Monday afternoon.
The names of the people involved in the deadly crash at 478th Avenue and 209th Street a mile north the town have not been released pending notification of family, according to a Tuesday afternoon news release from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
Preliminary information indicates the man was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound on 478th Avenue in the northbound lane when it collided with an oncoming northbound 1985 Freightliner dump truck. The truck driver, a 67-year-old man from White, suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash, reported at 4:51 p.m., is being investigated by the South Dakota Highway Patrol. All information released so far is preliminary in nature.
