High school bowling: Brookings Bobcats wrap up regular season

Girls team maintains an undefeated record of 12-0

The Brookings Bobcats have been busy in recent weeks as they had duals with Sioux Falls Christian, Sioux Falls Roosevelt and Harrisburg to wrap up the regular season.

The girls team earned three wins to close the regular season with a 12-0 record while the boys team picked up a win over Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Jan. 30 to finish the regular season with a record of 5-7.

Girls

• Brookings 49, Sioux Falls Christian 1

SIOUX FALLS — The Bobcats picked up their 10th win of the season when they defeated Sioux Falls Christian at Empire Bowl on Jan. 24.

Peyton McBride led Brookings with a series score of 630 that was compiled with a score of 212 in Game 1, 214 in Game 2 and 204 in Game 3.

Alexis Hieb was next for the Bobcats with a series score of 606 including game scores of 234 in Game 1, 217 in Game 2 and 155 in Game 3 and Haley McBride had a series score of 576 that included a score of 203 in Game 1, 160 in Game 2 and 213 in Game 3.

Teagen Bremmon had a series score of 534 thanks to scores of 169 in Game 1, 189 in Game 2 and 176 in Game 3 and Brooklyn Hieb finished with a series score of 522 with a score of 185 in Game 1, 145 in Game 2 and 192 in Game 3.

Maddy Austreim rounded out the varsity scoring with a series score of 495 including a score of 176 in Game 1, 184 in Game 2 and 135 in Game 3.

Brookings 48.5, Sioux Falls Roosevelt 1.5

BROOKINGS — The Bobcats earned another win by defeating the Roughriders at The Lanes on Jan. 30.

Brooklyn Hieb led the Bobcats with a series score of 646 that included a score of 221 in Game 1, 200 in Game 2 and 225 in Game 3.

Peyton McBride was next up for Brookings, posting a series score of 617 and scores of 243 in Game 1, 182 in Game 2 and 192 in Game 3.

Vernarsky was the third bowler to earn a series score over 600 for Brookings as she had scores of 191 in Game 1, 224 in Game 2 and 197 in Game 3 for a series score of 612.

Haley McBride had a series score of 591 with a score of 183 in Game 1, 194 in Game 2 and 214 in Game 3 and Kacee Rhody had a series score of 577 with scores of 183 in Game 1, 191 in Game 2 and 203 in Game 3.

Bremmon rounded out the varsity scoring for the Bobcats with scores of 174 in Game 1, 227 in Game 2 and 137 in Game 3 for a series score of 538.

Brookings 29, Harrisburg 21

SIOUX FALLS — The Bobcats improved to 12-0 when they defeated Harrisburg at Eastway Bowl on Feb. 1.

Brooklyn Heib led the Bobcats with a series score of 549 and had scores of 152 in Game 1, 173 in Game 2 and 224 in Game 3. Vernarsky was next for Brookings with a series score of 525 that included a score of 152 in Game 1, 200 in Game 2 and 173 in Game 3.

Maddey Austreim had a series score of 511 with scores of 164 in Game 1, 168 in Game 2 and 179 in Game 3 and Bremmon had a series score of 488 with scores of 139 in Game 1, 201 in Game 2 and 148 in Game 3.

Haley McBride had a series score of 485 with scores of 188 in Game 1, 158 in Game 2 and 139 in Game 3 and Kenzie Owens had a series score of 469 with scores of 175 in Game 1, 121 in Game 2 and 173 in Game 3.

Boys

 Sioux Falls Christian 31, Brookings 19

SIOUX FALLS — The Bobcats dropped their dual with Sioux Falls Christian but Adrian Howard put on a show with a series score of 756 on Jan. 24.

Howard started his afternoon with a score of 280 in Game 1 before posting a score of 234 in Game 2 and 242 in Game 3. Howard was followed by Gage Craft who had a series score of 576 including scores of 196 in Game 1, 191 in Game 2 and 189 in Game 3.

Dylan Scubelek finished third for Brookings with a series score of 569. Scubelek had a score of 166 in Game 1, 210 in Game 2 and 193 in Game 3.

Zaiden Dicke had a series score of 560 with a score of 205 in Game 1, 199 in Game 2 and 156 in Game 3.

Holden Austreim had a series score of 519 with a score of 177 in Game 1, 160 in Game 2 and 182 in Game 3 and James Tefft had a series score of 501 with scores of 172 in Game 1, 177 in Game 2 and 152 in Game 3.

Brookings 42.5, Sioux Falls Roosevelt 7.5

BROOKINGS — The Bobcats got back into the win column against Sioux Falls Roosevelt thanks to a series score of 779 by Dicke at The Lanes on Jan. 30.

Dicke rolled a 235 in Game 1, a 258 in Game 2 and a 286 in Game 3 to complete the series while Craft was next with a series score of 559 including scores of 173 in Game 1, 183 in Game 2 and 203 in Game 3.

Tefft had a series score of 531 including series scores of 164 in Game 1, 175 in Game 2 and 192 in Game 3 and Holden Austreim had a series score of 517 including scores of 143 in Game 1, 182 in Game 2 and 192 in Game 3.

Joel Thompson had a series score of 516 in the dual with scores of 167 in Game 1, 168 in Game 2 and 181 in Game 3 and Zack Bevers rounded out the scoring with a series score of 507 with scores of 157 in Game 1, 138 in Game 2 and 212 in Game 3.

Harrisburg 38, Brookings 12

SIOUX FALLS — The Tigers defeated the Bobcats at Eastway Bowl on Feb. 1.

Holden Austreim led the way for Brookings with a series score of 607 that included a score of 220 in Game 1, 166 in Game 2 and 221 in Game 3 and Gage Craft was second with a series score of 591 that included scores of 216 in Game 1, 183 in Game 2 and 192 in Game 3.

Howard had a series score of 489 with scores of 164 in Game 1, 134 in Game 2 and 191 in Game 3 and James Tefft had a series score of 467 with scores of 192 in Game 1, 149 in Game 2 and 126 in Game 3.

Dickey and Riley Owens rounded out the varsity scoring as they each had a series score of 461. Dickey had scores of 146 in Game 1, 158 in Game 2 and 157 in Game 3 while Owens had scores of 106 in Game 1, 169 in Game 2 and 186 in Game 3.
