The Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks picked up a win over Wolsey-Wessington and Oldham-Ramona/Rutland fell on the road to Chester in Tuesday night’s girls basketball action.
• Iroquois/Lake Preston 61, Wolsey-Wessington 51
The Sharks jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they defeated the Lady Warbirds on Tuesday night.
ILP led 15-9 at the end of the first quarter and extended its lead to 35-24 at halftime. The Sharks led 50-40 at the end of the third quarter and both teams played to an 11-11 tie in the fourth quarter.
Hadlee Holt had 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Sharks while Adison Moore had 10 points, six rebounds and four steals. Faith Steffensen had two steals and Kera Dubro led ILP with four assists.
Payton Kemnitz led W-W with a game-high 24 points.
The Sharks shot 47 percent in the game including 9-for-22 (40.9%) on 3-point attempts.
ILP improved to 8-9 on the season and will travel to Sunshine Bible Academy on Thursday night.
• Chester 83, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 55
The Flyers used a big second quarter to defeat the Raiders on Tuesday night.
Chester led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter but out-scored ORR 26-12 in the second quarter to break the game open and take a 40-25 lead into halftime. The Flyers led 60-42 at the end of the third quarter and had a 23-13 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Bailey Hyland led ORR with 18 points, three rebounds and an assist. Julia Trygstad had 13 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals while Emily Matson had 10 points.
Emmerson Eppard led Chester with 21 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals while Emery Larson had 20 points and two steals. Katelyn Schut had 15 points and Brooklyn Holman had 10 points and seven rebounds.
The Raiders fell to 4-13 with the loss and will host De Smet in Rutland on Friday night.
