High school gymnastics: Brookings Bobcats finish second in home triangular

BROOKINGS — The Brookings Bobcats finished second in a home triangular with Mitchell and Yankton at Bob Jostad Gymnasium in Brookings High School on Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats finished with a team score of 140.65 which was behind Mitchell’s score of 148.850. Yankton finished third with a score of 136.65.

Lexi Norgaard finished with the top all-around score for Brookings, placing fifth with a score of 35.100. Kennedy Ronning finished sixth with a score of 34.150, Ava Petterson finished seventh with a score of 34.0500, Mischa Janssen finished eighth with a score of 33.2000, Amber Brockberg finished ninth with a score of 32.9000, Nevaeh Strohfus finished 13th with a score of 32.1000 and Addison Steinhoff finished 15th with a score of 31.4000.

Mitchell’s Keyana Kelley had the top all-around score at 36.3500.

Brockberg and Norgaard had the top score for Brookings in the vault, finishing ninth with a score of 8.8000. Petterson finished 11th with a score of 8.7500 while Ronning and Janssen finished tied for 14th with a score of 8.6500. Steinhoff and Strohfus finished tied for 16th with a score of 8.6000 and Harper Overby finished 18th with a score of 8.5500. Mitchell’s Aubrey Gelderman had the top score at 9.6500.

Delilah Fuls had the top score on the uneven bars for the Bobcats, finishing fifth with a score of 8.8500. Norgaard finished eighth with a score of 8.4000 while Ronning finished 12th with a score of 7.8500. Petterson finished 14th with a score of 7.7000, Janssen finished 16th with a score of 7.1000, Steinhoff finished 18th with a score of 7.0000 and Brockberg finished 22nd with a score of 6.1500. Mitchell’s Bentley Bates had the top score at 9.7500.

Fuls had the top score for Brookings on the balance beam, finishing third at 9.500. Ronning finished sixth with a score of 9.2500 and Petterson finished eighth at 9.1500. Brockberg finished 10th with a score of 9.0500, Norgaard finished 11th with a score of 9.000, Janssen finished 12th with a score of 8.8500, Strohfus finished 19th with a score of 8.300 and Steinhoff finished 21st with a score of 8.2500. Bates had the top score at 9.7000.

Fuls had the top overall score at the triangular with a 9.5000 in floor exercise. Brockberg and Norgaard finished tied for fourth with a score of 8.9000 and Janssen finished 10th with a score of 8.6000. Petterson and Strohfus finished tied for 13th with a score of 8.4500, Ronning finished 15th with a score of 8.4000 and Steinhoff finished 21st with a score of 7.6500.

Brookings will wrap up its season with the Class A Gymnastics Meet in Pierre on Friday and Saturday.
