Jackrabbits finish runner-up at Summit League Championship

MESA, Ariz. — The South Dakota State women's golf team finished runner-up at the Summit League Championship Tuesday afternoon at Longbow Golf Course.

The Jackrabbits' started the final day in third place, then used a +4 round three to pass Oral Roberts and move into runner-up position. SDSU's 878 (+26) final team rally was four strokes ahead of North Dakota State and six ahead of Oral Roberts.

Denver had four players finish in the top ten to win its sixth straight Summit League Championship.

Senior  Shakira-Ann Kuys finished in a three-way tie for fifth place to earn a spot on the all-tournament team. She had a 217, +4 final scorecard to pace the Jackrabbits. Kuys was also named the Summit League Scholar of the Championship as she has the highest cumulative GPA of the 40 competitors.

Piper Stubbs, also a senior, was one shot back and tied for eighth place in the final standings (218, +5). She was even-par for her last round. Reese Jansa also fired an even-par 71 on her final lap and finished in 15th place (222, +9). McKenzie Mages finished in 19th place (224, +11) and Molly O'Hara tied for 30th place (231, +18).

SDSU's runner-up finish is its best finish since 2021 and fifth overall since joining the Summit League for the 2008-09 season.
