FARGO, N.D. — It was smooth sailing for South Dakota State in the Summit League Tournament championship game on Sunday afternoon as the Jackrabbits beat Oral Roberts 3-1 at Dacotah Field.

It’s the second-straight tournament title for the SDSU and the eighth time in program history that the Jacks punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

The Jacks scored their first two goals in a span of a minute and 10 seconds. The first one came in the 14th minute as Hailee Christensen scored unassisted. Then Laney Murdzek passed it to Christensen and she then sent it towards the box where Katelyn Beulke made a move on the keeper and sent it into the net to make it 2-0.

That lead held until the second half and then the Jacks were able to push the lead to 3-0. It was a Beulke again and this time it was an unassisted goal in just two and a half minutes into the second half.

ORU’s Marlee Fray was able to get the Golden Eagles on the scoreboard in the 63rd minute to make the final 3-1.

SDSU had 10 shots and four of them were on goal. ORU had seven shots and two of them were on goal. The Jacks had six corner kicks and eight fouls. The Golden Eagles had two corner kicks and 16 fouls.

Beulke’s two goals were her only shots of the game. Christensen had two shots and one was on goal. Mia Bosch had four shots and one was on goal. Katherine Jones had two shots that weren’t on goal.

The Jackrabbits will play at Minnesota on Friday at 5 p.m. The Gophers are a No. 6 seed and SDSU is unseeded.
