SIOUX FALLS — South Dakota State men’s swimmer Nik Keuser was honored Wednesday as the Summit League’s Male Kwik Star Peak Newcomer of the Month for February.

A freshman from Omaha, Nebraska, Keuser won the 100-yard breastroke and placed fourth in the 200 breaststroke at the Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships in Iowa City, Iowa, setting school records in both events. His winning time of 53.74 seconds in the 100 breaststroke came after he previously broke his own record in the prelims with a time of 54.66 seconds. His 200 breaststroke record time of 1:57.90 also came in the prelims.

Keuser began the month by sweeping the breaststroke events at the Coyote Invite on Feb. 1 in Sioux Falls. He set the 100 breaststroke school record for the first time during that meet at 55.06 seconds.
