Elkton-Lake Benton and Iroquois/Lake Preston were able to come away with sweeps in volleyball on Thursday night. The Lady Elks beat Deubrook Area and the Sharks took down Sunshine Bible Academy.
WHITE — Elkton-Lake Benton won a marathon third set to complete the sweep on Thursday night. The Lady Elks won the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-18 but then battled it out in the third set, coming out on top 36-34.
The Lady Elks were led by Andrea Renkly who had 21 kills and 17 digs. Malayha Slegers had 44 assists and 17 digs. Charlie Thooft had 17 kills and 15 digs.
Zoey Molengraaf led the Dolphins with 15 kills and three blocks. Matti Ramlo had 18 digs and Maddie Schulte had 15 digs and two aces. Matte Bauman had 35 assists and six kills. Kylee Johnson had 11 kills.
ELB improved to 8-9 and hosts Iroquois/Lake Preston in Elkton on Monday at 7 p.m. The Dolphins dropped to 13-10 and host Dell Rapids on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
MILLER — The Sharks made quick work of the Crusaders on Thursday night, winning by scores of 25-19, 25-11 and 25-17.
Hadlee Holt and Amelia Holland each had eight kills for the Sharks. Holt also had 23 digs and four aces. Natalie Cundy had 13 kills and Trinity Pirley had 19 digs. Kera Dubro had six kills and three aces.
The Crusaders were led by Natasha Appel, who had six kills. Kennedy Keck had 19 digs and Abby Hinman had eight assists. Dakota Boersma had three kills and five digs.
ILP improved to 5-15.
