Leroy Crapser - Sinai

Leroy A Crapser, age 77, of Sinai passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, at Ava Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD, with his niece at his side.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings, SD. Burial will be at First Lutheran Cemetery in Brookings with Military Graveside Rites. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 17, from 4-6 p.m. at Rude’s Funeral Home.
Leroy Alan, son of Lyle and Gladys (Kruse Walker) Crapser, was born on July 31, 1946, in Brookings, SD. He attended school in Brookings. Leroy enlisted in the US Navy in 1963. Leroy was on a ship located off Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. Leroy received his GED while enlisted. Leroy moved back to Brookings. He worked at various factories, was an employee of the town of Aurora when he owned a farm just outside of Aurora. Leroy took up the challenge of breaking horses.
Leroy married Berniece (Jensen) Prochaska in 1978 and they divorced in 2006. Leroy also farmed near Bruce. Leroy enjoyed hunting, especially racoons and raised dogs specifically for coon hunting, fishing - from a boat or on ice – as long as the fish were biting, and going to auctions to find hidden treasures. He loved going to the South Side Reunion every summer.
He is survived by his niece, Tammy Heath of Madison, Wisconsin, Aunt Marilyn Skogstad, cousins, Amanda Villemure of Florida, and friends.
He was preceded by his parents, Lyle and Gladys, stepmother, Ona Crapser, sisters, Gloria Fixmer and Carol Heath, brother Ray Crapser, grandparents, Melbourn and Teolina Crapser, Enno Kruse and Dora Kruse Walker, Step grandfather Jacob Walker, aunts and uncles, cousins and brother-in-laws, David Fixmer and Richard Heath.
