I would like to first say “thank you” to Cheryl Shaeffer for your letter to the editor 06-27-25 .

You are so right about our senators Thune and Rounds. I do not know why they feel the ultra rich need more tax breaks and the poor, middle class need less.

When are the Republicans going to start doing something for us? I have cancer, hoping research will help find a cure or help me live longer and now I see they are cutting research. So we are losing what little benefits we have to help the rich — that makes no sense. There are more of us, so why do we keep electing people who do not stand up for us? It seems to me that lying is the standard anymore and if you say it enough, it's gospel. Our elected officials are pretty good at that.
