Patricia Thompson Sachen, 91, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Jan. 17, 2025, at Ava’s House Hospice.
Patricia Thompson Sachen, daughter of Stanley Robert and Vivian (Grove) Thompson, was born on July 29, 1933, in South English, Iowa. She grew up in Washington, Iowa, and graduated from Washington High School before attending Kilian Community College for medical secretarial courses. She began working at the phone company in Davenport, Iowa.
She met her husband George William Sachen in Washington, Iowa, at a St. Patrick’s Day Dance. They married on April 25, 1959, in Washington, Iowa. The couple moved to Sioux Falls, SD, in 1959 and began to raise a family. Pat worked at US West for 27 years.
Pat was a member of the First Baptist Church, past President and Vice President of the Sioux Falls Mother of Twins Club (‘where God chooses the members’). She was Treasurer and Secretary of the Telephone Company Pioneers. She was an avid reader and a wonderful cook.
Grateful for having shared her life are her twin children — son, Robert William Sachen and his wife Nita, Brookings, SD; daughter, Rosemary Lee Murphy and her husband Anthony, Firestone, CO; five grandchildren, Krista (David) Criss of Homer, NE; Joshua Sachen of Volga, SD; Matthew (Rebekah) Sachen of Brandon, SD; Austin Kenyon Murphy and Duncan Liam Murphy of Firestone, CO; and four great-grandchildren, Emersyn and Zoraya Sachen, and Katie and Brooklyn Criss; and many other relatives and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents, brother Robert Thompson , Ashburnham, MA; and grandson Austin Kenyon Murphy.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, at Miller Funeral Home. The family will be present for the visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls.
