Russell S. Larson, age 71, of White SD, rode his horse through the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church, Brookings SD. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, May 25 at Eidsness Funeral Home, Brookings SD.
Russ was born on Dec. 26, 1953, to Richard and Joyce (Heemeyer) Larson. He was raised near White, SD, and graduated from Deubrook High School. After high school Russ attended SDSU.
He was married Oct. 4, 1975, to Jill [Weisel] Larson. They were married for almost 50 years and created their life together in White, SD. Russ worked his entire career at First Bank of White. He retired from banking in 2010 and continued to farm the family farm east of White. He enjoyed daily rides on his horses and spending peaceful time with his cattle.
Russ was a simple man, who enjoyed giving back to his community and spending time in the quiet of the countryside. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his best dog Bailey.
Russ is survived by his wife Jill; his daughter Jen (Joe) Frederiksen of Brookings SD, four grandchildren; Talon, Tavyn, Zane and Zadie; sister Virginia (Jim) Heesch and brother David (Kim) Larson; sister in laws Karna (Gary) Lindner, Lynne (Gordon) Kerley, Deanna Larson; and several nieces and nephews.
Greeting him in Heaven are his parents, brother Steven Larson, his in-laws Vince and Myrene Weisel and a host of friends.
