SIOUX FALLS — The Sioux Valley boys’ golf team finished in seventh place at the Charger Invite at Spring Creek Golf Course in Sioux Falls on Tuesday.
The Cossacks shot 44-over par as a team. Tate Steffensen led the way for Sioux Valley as he tied for 16th after shooting a 78. Jameson Degan was right behind Steffensen, tying for 18th (79). Damon Uecker tied for 39th (86) and Nathan Larson tied for 51st (89). Maverick Nelson tied for 62nd (91) and Patrik Quale rounded things out for the Cossacks, coming in 82nd (102).
Dakota Valley won the team championship after shooting nine-over par. Vermillion came in second (+14) and Tea Area finished in third (+20). West Central finished in fourth (+25) and Sioux Falls Christian rounded out the top five (+34).
West Central’s Anthony Lanham won the individual tournament after shooting a three-under par 69. Elk Point-Jefferson’s Carter Langle came in second (71) and Dakota Valley’s Tate Cronelsen finished in third (72). Sioux Falls Christian’s Harper Schnable, Dakota Valley’s Tyler Cronelsen and Vermillion’s Carter Hansen all tied for fourth (73).
The Cossacks will hit the course again on Sept. 12 when they play in the Groton Invitational at 10 a.m.
