VOLGA — The Sioux Valley boys’ golf team won the Big East Conference Tournament on Friday at Meadow Creek Golf Course.
The Cossacks had a team score of 227. Flandreau came in second (249) and Chester finished in third (250). Beresford came in fourth (253) and McCook Central/Montrose finished in fifth (259).
Tate Steffensen of Sioux Valley was the individual winner as he shot a two-under 70. His teammate, Damon Uecker, came in second with a score of 76. Jameson Degan finished in seventh (81) and Maverick Nelson came in 23rd (91).
Alfie Henderson was the top finisher for Flandreau and he came in fourth (77). Jon Burshiem came in 10th (83) and Hunter Bushkofsky finished in 18th (89).
The Cossack girls finished in third place with a team score of 275. Beresford won the team title with a score of 258. Chester came in second (274) and Baltic finished in fourth (293). Garretson rounded out the top five (307).
Sioux Valley had three top-10 finishers. Taylor Bastian came in sixth (90), Masey Top came in seventh (91) and Lillie Noble came in eighth (94). Abygale Degen finished in 15th (106).
The Cossacks will play in the West Central Invitational at Central Valley Golf Course in Hartford on Monday at 9 a.m.
