The Sioux Valley softball team extended its win streak to seven on Wednesday afternoon as the Cossacks beat Colman-Egan 21-4 in three innings.

COLMAN — The Sioux Valley softball team extended its win streak to seven on Wednesday afternoon as the Cossacks beat Colman-Egan 21-4 in three innings.
The Cossacks led 5-0 after the first inning. Kassidy Smith and Morgan Lemme drew back-to-back walks to begin the game. Smith then scored on a passed ball and Lemme came home on an error. McKinley Schwab also walked and later scored on an error. Amelia Jacobson readed on an error and scored on a passed ball and Savana Guthmiller scored on a fielder’s choice to make it 5-0.
Sioux Valley added 11 more runs in the top of the second. Jacobson hit an RBI single and Guthmiller hit a sacrifice fly to make it 7-0. Abby Axtell drew a bases loaded walk and Jaycie Olson followed and was hit by a pitch. Smith then hit a sacrifice fly and Lemme followed with a two-run single. Jacobson then hit a two-run single of her own and Guthmiller hit a two-run home run to center field to make it 16-0.
The Hawks scored all of their four runs in the bottom of the second. Chloe Schmidt reached on an error to begin the inning. Addison Gelgle then hit a double and Savana Schmidt walked to load the bases up. Kinley Gelgle was then walked with one out and Brianne Bowen drove in two runs with a single. Kinley Gelgle then scored on a ground out to make it 16-4 heading into the third.
Sioux Valley pushed five more runs home in the third. Axtell walked with one out and then made her way to third on a sacrifice bunt from Olson. Zoe Hemmestad ran for Axtell and scored on a steal of home. Jacobson then hit an RBI single. Guthmiller came to the plate next with the bases loaded and she cleared the bases with a double and made it 21-4.
Colman-Egan put a runner on in the bottom of the third with two outs but then Schmidt ended the game with a pop out due to the 15-run rule.
Sioux Valley had 10 hits. Guthmiller was 2-for-3 with six RBIs and Jacobson was 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Lemme was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and Schwab was 3-for-3. Jacobsen was 1-for-2. Axtell had two RBIs and Smith and Olson each had an RBI.
The Hawks had three hits. Addison Gelgle was 2-for-2 and Bowen was 1-for-1 with two RBIs. Kinley Gelgle and Kinzley Shafer each had an RBI.
Axtell pitched all three innings for the Cossacks. She gave up four runs, two earned, on three hits with one strikeout and two walks.
Sioux Valley is now 12-5 on the season. The Cossacks will play in the Big East Conference Tournament this weekend in Beresford.
