Sioux Valley opened up the first set with a 7-1 run. Beresford cut the lead to 11-9 but the Cossacks then went on a 9-2 run to go up 18-11. The Cossacks were able to carry that lead to the finish line, taking set one 25-20.

The points went back-and-forth until a Lacey Langland kill gave the Cossacks match point at 24-23. Beresford was able to tie things up and that extended the set to 26-26.
