Sioux Valley trio highlights seven area girls basketball players on All-State teams

Seven area girls basketball players were honored on the All-State teams on Friday.

Sioux Valley led the way with three players honored, while Flandreau, Arlington, Colman-Egan and Deubrook Area all had one player.

Class A

The Cossacks had two players on the third team and an honorable mention. Sophomore forward Kailey Cradduck and senior center Keyra Kruse were each named to the third team. Cradduck averaged 14.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and had 71 steals this season. Kruse averaged 11.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

Talya Vincent was an honorable mention for Sioux Valley and she averaged 13.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Cradduck, Kruse and Vincent led the Cossacks to a 21-5 record this season and they were the Consolation Champions in the Class A State Tournament.

Flandreau’s Morgan Sheppard was an honorable mention as well. She averaged 16.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. She helped the Fliers go 15-7 and reach the SoDak 16.

Class B

Arlington’s Jaelyn Huntimer was named to the Class B first team. She averaged 23.6 points, six rebounds and three assists per game. Huntimer led the Cardinals to a 13-9 record and the Region 2B semifinals.

Colman-Egan’s Brynlee Landis was named to the second team. She averaged 20 points, seven rebounds and had 52 steals this season. The Hawks were 19-3 this season and lost in the Region 3B semifinals.

Deubrook Area’s Mataya Gouws was a Class B honorable mention. She averaged 13.3 points, six rebounds and had 43 steals this year. She led the Dolphins to an 18-8 record and their first ever State Tournament appearance.
