South Dakota State, Mages win home invite in Nevada

BOULDER CITY, Nev. — Powered by a first-place finish by McKenzie Mages, the South Dakota State women’s golf team won the team title at the Spring Jackrabbit Invite on Tuesday afternoon.

Mages finished 3-under par for the tournament. The junior posted a 66 (-6) during the first round and used that near-school record to maintain her lead through the event. Mages also went under par on her last lap, firing a 71 (-1).

Piper Stubbs was also a top-10 finisher. Her 219 (+3) was good for seventh place in the standings. Stubbs also put together an impressive round, tallying a 68 (-4) for her second lap Monday.

Molly O’Hara and Reese Jansa finished in a tie for 19th place (225, +9) while Shakira-Ann Kuys tied for 36th place (228, +12).

The Jackrabbits posted a +15 team tally over the two-day, 54-hole event. The team finished nine shots ahead of Summit League foes North Dakota State and St. Thomas, who tied for second place.

Tatum Depuydt and Anna Hjartardottir competed individually for the Jackrabbits. Deputy finished in a tie for 27th place (226, +10). Hjartardottir finished in a tie for 75th (246, +30).
