South Dakota's food tax not fair

We have heard that the majority of South Dakota residents are in favor of repealing the sales tax on food.

However, many in the government would like for us to continue with the very regressive and unfair tax system we now have. I believe there are only two states that have full sales tax on food, with South Dakota being one of those states.

It would be hard to convince me that 48 states have the wrong tax structure, while only two states have it right.

I believe Gov. Kristi Noem pretended she was in favor of repealing the tax, knowing full well that the Legislature wouldn't allow it. Such is South Dakota politics.

South Dakota has a motto stating "Under God the people rule." Also our "Pledge of Allegiance" we recite the words "with liberty and justice for all."

South Dakota's method of taxation is very short of justice.
