YANKTON — South Dakota State finished competition at the Mount Marty Last Chance meet with three Jackrabbit wins on Friday evening.
Grayson Ring and Brooks Holen competed in the high jump for the Jackrabbits. Both Ring and Holen leapt over 6-04.00 (1.93m) to finish first and second, respectively.
For the women, Madison Kizer took gold in high jump with a mark of 5-07.00 (1.70m), followed closely by Taylor Jochum in second with a leap of 5-05.00 (1.65m). Cadence Nuttbrock also competed, finishing fourth with a mark of 5-01.00 (1.55m).
Ryan Karajanis competed in pole vault, where he took home gold with his second-best mark of 15-07.00 (4.75m). Aaron Hawkes competed as well. The freshman finished fourth with a mark of 14-01.25 (4.30m).
Over in the mile, Ty Brouwer and Tyler O’Neil placed first and second, respectively. Brouwer finished at 4:28.41, while O’Neil clocked a time of 4:28.61.
Ben Morningstar took silver with a time of 8.35 in the 60-hurdlers. On the women’s side Silja Gunderson crossed the line at 9.44 to finish runner-up.
Gunderson also represented the Jackrabbits in the 60-meter dash along with Reese Beemer and Hannah Claussen. Beemer clutched bronze with a time of 7.94, Gunderson PRed at 8.11 to place in the top five, and Claussen clocked a time of 8.35 to take seventh.
Blake Koenen and Nate McCormick competed in the 60-meter dash on the men’s side. Koenen crossed the line at 7.074 to take bronze, while Koenen PRed at 7.076 for fourth.
Koenen and McCormick, along with Parker Peterson, represented SDSU in the 200-meter dash where the trio finished second through fourth. McCormick finished runner-up with a new personal record of 22.73, Peterson cruised in behind him at 22.79, and Koenen clocked a time of 22.81 to place fourth.
On the women’s side, Jessica Boekelheide posted a time of 27.50 to finish third. Ava Steffen competed alongside Boekelheide, where she finished seventh with a time of 28.09.
Kirsten Kilker represented SDSU in weight throw. Kilker threw a new personal record of 51-08.50 to take bronze.
