Dear Senators Thune and Rounds, and Representative Johnson,
I look forward to your response on my grave concerns with the risk to the Americans serving our nation in the Armed Forces by the violation of basic (OPSEC) Operation Security by those appointed by President Trump to safeguard our nation.
It’s high irony that members of the Security Council would be so reckless in safeguarding security as to use an app that is not a secure government messaging platform to share war plans.
Our military members know upon graduation from Basic Training that lives of fellow service members are put in harms way by sharing operational details that can be used by our enemies. What are they to make of this inexcusable lack of foundational due diligence in security by their leaders at the highest levels? At the very least, it demonstrates an absence of bedrock leadership tenets.
The only true patriot on the text chain was Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor in chief of the Atlantic magazine, who revealed after the military operation the indefensible actions of those involved in its planning.
How many other times have the vice president, secretary of defense, secretary of state, national security advisor, et al, used this same means, or others, that put our nation at risk?
