BROOKINGS – South Dakota State fourth-year head volleyball coach Nicole Cirillo announced that six members of the high school Class of 2019 have committed to play for the Jackrabbits next season.

Signing national letters of intent were:

Abbey Fryauf, 6-2, middle hitter, West Branch, Iowa (West Branch High School)

Anna Nerad, 6-0, middle hitter, Waukesha, Wis. (Waukesha West)

Tori Thompson, 6-2, middle hitter, Lakeville, Minn. (Lakeville North High School

Carly Wedel, 6-1, setter, Willmar, Minn. (Willmar High School).

Also, joining the program:

Drew McDougall, 5-1, defensive specialist, Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka High School

Lily Skartvedt, 5-4, defensive specialist, Radcliffe, Iowa/South Hamilton High School

“I couldn’t be more excited to announce these six girls for next fall. They bring a great mixture of height to add to our front row and quickness in the back row that will add a new element to Jackrabbits volleyball,” Cirillo said. “Adding some depth to our middle hitter and right-side positions with Tori, Anna and Abbey is much needed and all three can play in either spot. Carly, I’m bringing in as a setter. She hit in high school and is a huge blocker, which we will be able to utilize right away. Drew and Lily bring in some solid backcourt skills but more importantly, add some much needed speed for us defensively. I expect each of these players to help push our program to turn the final corner and put South Dakota State volleyball back in the conference running.”
