Straight-set sweeps highlight Thursday’s DVC volleyball action

ARLINGTON – The host Cardinals cruised to a straight-set sweep of Dell Rapids St. Mary in Dakota Valley Conference volleyball action Thursday night.

Arlington won, 25-7, 25-15 and 25-18, to improve to 18-4 on the season while DRSM dropped to 7-10 overall.

Hadley Carlson posted a double-double of 12 kills and 11 digs while Jayna Haufschild added 11 kills, a solo block and four digs. Marissa Baker notched 30 set assists as Jeryn Christensen collected 11 digs.

Maddie Schwebach led the visiting Cardinals with four kills and a pair of blocks as Ella Heinitz tallied 13 set assists.

On Saturday, Arlington faces Winner in the Chester Challenge while DRSM plays host to Ellsworth (Minn.) on Monday.

DE SMET – The Dolphins posted a DVC sweep over the Lady Bulldogs.

Deubrook Area won by set scores of 25-15, 25-17 and 25-12 to improve to 15-7 as De Smet fell to 8-10.

Ashley Vandermeer’s 13 kills, eight digs and two service aces led the Dolphins while Shaylee DeBeer contributed 11 kills, 13 set assists, 10 digs and a pair of block assists. Sarah Urevig earned 23 set assists to go along with a pair of aces and a block assist.

Kennedi Buchholz led De Smet at the net with seven kills, a solo block and three block assists. Rynn Osthus helped out with six kills, eight digs and three block assists.

The Dolphins face Wagner at 2:30 p.m. in Saturday’s Chester Challenge while De Smet plays host to Hamlin on Tuesday.

HENDRICKS, Minn. – The Redhawks outdueled the Hawks in DVC volleyball on Thursday as E/H beat Colman-Egan, 25-12, 25-21 and 25-11.

Sophie Johnson tallied 11 kills and seven digs for the hosts while Abigail Satterlee finished with seven kills, a solo block and eight block assists. Brinn Begalka notched 23 set assists, three solo blocks, five block assists and an ace.

Kylie Beare led the E/H defense with nine digs and added three solo blocks and two block assists as Tasha Vohlken served eight aces and Kaylee Johnson added six kills and an ace.

Olivia Baumberger’s five kills led the Hawks, who dropped to 10-8. Madison Voelker added three kills while Kennedi Landis had six set assists and Jordan Wittrock contributed two.

Braiden Westley led the CE defense with 17 digs and added three service aces as Elizabeth Moore finished with eight digs and Mackenzie Hemmer tallied two blocks.

Estelline/Hendricks, 11-9 overall, competes in the St. Anthony Tournament on Saturday, while Colman-Egan plays host to Bridgewater-Emery on Tuesday.

Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 0

OLDHAM – The Lady Elks improved to 11-9 with a 25-14, 25-22 and 25-19 DVC win over the Raiders on Thursday.

Baylee Jandahl led a balanced ELB attack with nine kills as Emily Miller chipped in with seven; Aubrey Wirth contributed six and Hannah Krog added five, to go along with four blocks.

Julie Drietz notched 27 set assists while Jesse Bussleman collected nine digs.

Kylie Anderson’s five kills and four aces led ORR’s offense as Khloe Tieman finished with four kills, 12 set assists and four digs. Rylie Aschmeller tallied 15 digs as the Raiders dropped to 1-14 overall.

On Saturday, the Lady Elks face Sioux Valley at 11 a.m. in the Chester Challenge while ORR takes on FIS in Flandreau.
