BROOKINGS – The Brookings mayor and City Council have announced three finalists for city manager.
A total of 64 applicants applied for the position from across the continent, the city announced Friday. Three finalists were recommended to the mayor and City Council by the City Manager Hiring Committee on Tuesday
The finalists are:
• Paul Briseno, assistant city manager of Kearney, Nebraska, from July 2015 to present
• Shawn Kessel, city administrator of Dickinson, North Dakota, from January 2009 to present
• Sean Pederson, city manager of Bonner Springs, Kansas, from October 2015 to present
The candidates will be in Brookings for an extensive two-day interview process on April 16 and 17, which will include a community tour, testing evaluations and meetings with the mayor and City Council.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend an informal meet-and-greet reception with the finalist candidates from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 16, at the Children’s Museum of South Dakota. The candidates will provide a brief overview of themselves at approximately 5:30 p.m.
The City Council is scheduled for action to select a new city manager on Tuesday, April 24.
