BROOKINGS – Items worth more than $2,000 were stolen from a storage unit south of Brookings, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The burglary at Dakota Mini Storage, 3500 Main Ave. S., was reported at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday and happened sometime between Oct. 29 and Nov. 10, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.
“Items stolen from the unit included ice fishing equipment, two black plastic rifle cases, welding equipment, two plastic crates, a gas can for a boat motor, and a 2003 15 horsepower Mercury 2 stroke motor. The value of the items stolen is $2,220,” Sebring said.
Sebring said the storage unit was locked, but entry is believed to have been gained via an unlocked storage unit that was next to the victim’s unit.
