BROOKINGS – Parents and children alike were busy Friday morning, preparing for the first day of the school year for Brookings School District schools.
Medary Elementary was filled with the sounds of a happy first day of school, with students playing in the playground and receiving warm welcomes from their teachers.
Pictured above, the students lined up with their teachers after the first bell as parents said their goodbyes and snapped a few last parting pictures.
On bottom, Sammy Aso, a Medary Elementary School playground supervisor, greets a student and helps her find her way.
