BBB scholarships announced

Better Business Bureau (BBB) recently announced the winners of BBB’s 2021 Scott Mecham Student of Integrity Award Scholarships from South Dakota.

Public, private and home-schooled high school seniors from BBB’s service area were invited to apply.

Twelve graduating students who have demonstrated outstanding community service, leadership and personal integrity annually receive $2,000 scholarships from BBB’s Education Foundation for their post-secondary education expenses at any accredited institution. Winners were chosen from across BBB’s service area of South Dakota, The Kansas Plains, Omaha/Southwest Iowa, and Lincoln/Greater Nebraska. 

• Trinity Peterson is graduating from Willow Lake High School, Willow Lake. She will attend South Dakota State University, where she will be majoring in political science. 

• Kelton Vincent is from Volga and he is graduating from Sioux Valley High School. Kelton will be attending the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he hopes to graduate with a major in engineering and a minor in business economics or finance. Kelton also plans to play college basketball. He says, “While at college, I hope that I will exemplify ethical behavior and personal integrity.”

• Jocelyn Konechne will be graduating from Stevens High School, Rapid City. At Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, she is going to pursue a four-year degree in chemical engineering.
