BROOKINGS – Robert Bell of the Brookings Lions Club has been awarded the Henry Baker Fellowship Award for exemplary service to the club and the community.
Bell has been a Lion for 45 years and has served in many capacities. He has served as club secretary for 13 years and has been the District 5SE Constitution and Bylaws Chair for 10 years.
The Henry Baker Award is in honor of Redfield Lion Henry Baker who could neither read nor write but found joy in helping others and earned the respect of his community.
A $300 contribution to the South Dakota Lions Foundation has been made by the Brookings Lions Club in honor of Bell as part of the Henry Baker Award.
The Brookings Lions Club was chartered July 30, 1951, and serves the community in the areas of vision, hearing, hunger, youth, environment and diabetes, among other causes.
