Thursday, Aug. 9

4:15 a.m. Abused and neglected child

3:52 p.m. Officers responded to the 500 block of Sixth Street to a non-injury accident. A report was taken.

7:20 p.m. Officer McCaskill was requested to the Brookings Emergency Room for an unreported rollover accident. The accident reportedly took place in Edmunds County. The information was gathered and provided to the Edmunds County Sheriff’s Office.

Friday, Aug. 10

2:16 a.m. Officer Bonnema stopped a motor vehicle for speeding. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.

8:52 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the intersection of 17th Avenue South and 12th Street South for a two-vehicle, non-injury accident. A report was filed.

2:33 p.m. Aggravated assault

3:33 p.m. Ingestion of controlled drug or substance as felony; ingest, inhale substance to become intoxicated; possession or use of drug paraphernalia; reckless driving

Saturday, Aug. 11

5:15 a.m. Hit-and-run accident

12:49 p.m. Officer Weinrich identified a person driving in approximately the 800 block of Fifth Street South who was driving without a valid license. The driver was cited for various driving offenses.

10:20 p.m. Simple assault domestic intimidation

Sunday, Aug. 12

12:34 a.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 3100 block of Sixth Street.

1:17 a.m. Officers made a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Sixth Street. The male driver was arrested for driving without headlights, failure to pull to curb on audible signal, DUI-first offense and underage consumption.

2:10 a.m. Officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. A passenger was cited for open container, and another was arrested for warrants.

Monday, Aug. 13

9:52 a.m. Officer McCaskill was requested to a non-injury accident in the 500 block of 22nd Avenue South. An unknown semi truck struck the railroad crossing arm, causing damage. Officers were unable to locate the semi truck. A state accident report was completed.

2:03 p.m. Officer Bonnema received a complaint in regard to a theft that took place at the Roll N Smoke business.

5:12 p.m. Officers were made aware of a possible runaway juvenile from Watertown possibly in the Brookings area. The juvenile was located and later released to a parental guardian. A report was filed.

6:57 p.m. Non-injury accident; DUI-second offense; texting prohibited

Tuesday, Aug. 14

1:07 a.m. Open container, broken seal in motor vehicle; DUI; speeding, 6-10 mph over

1:13 a.m. Officer Asmus assisted Brookings County Deputy Page with a call in rural Volga. A report was filed.

6:29 a.m. Officer Larsen took a report of several vehicles that had been rummaged through and several items were stolen. It is currently under investigation.

8:18 a.m. An adult female reported a friend being threatened.

12:02 p.m. Officer McCaskill was requested to a non-injury accident in the intersection of Sixth Street and Faculty Drive. One driver was cited for failure to obey traffic signal (red light). A state accident report was completed.

5:15 p.m. Officer McCaskill was requested to the 500 block of 22nd Avenue South for a two-vehicle, non-injury accident. One driver was cited for improper left turn. A state accident report was completed.

8:19 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of 12th Street South for a report of a male trespassing. A report was filed.

Wednesday, Aug. 15

2:20 a.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop near the 3100 block of Sixth Street for a vehicle that did not have its headlights activated. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI-first offense. A report was filed.

9:33 a.m. Officer Popp took a report of theft from a motor vehicle in the 1200 block of 11th Street South. The victim provided that some loose change was taken from his vehicle as they don’t keep anything valuable in their vehicles. A theft report was filed in conjunction with similar thefts in the surrounding area.

1:12 p.m. Officer Larsen responded to a non-injury accident in the 200 Block of Main Avenue. A city accident report was filed.

5:52 p.m. Officers responded to a welfare check.

7:33 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Western Avenue for a report of a possible assault. The investigation revealed no assault had occurred. One person was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

8:19 p.m. Officers were requested to a residence for a possible domestic. It was later determined no assualt occurred. A male was in violation of a no trespass order.
