BROOKINGS – A woman was stabbed multiple times by another woman during a fight Tuesday night, according to Brookings Police.
The woman who was stabbed was an 18-year-old Brookings resident. The other woman involved was a 19-year-old Brookings resident.
“No arrests have been made, but it remains under investigation,” said Lt. Derrick Powers.
It started with a report of a fight shortly after 7 p.m., Powers said.
“After that incident, there was some messages exchanged between two females in regard to this fight ... which resulted in one of the females going to the other’s residence, which was located in the 300 block of Medary Avenue South,” Powers said.
“That female entered the residence and a (physical) fight ensued between these two females,” he said.
“During this fight, the (19-year-old) female that resides at the residence had obtained a knife and stabbed the other female several times. At this point, she – the one who was stabbed – fled the residence,” Powers said.
The 18-year-old went to a residence in the 400 block of Third Avenue South, and police were contacted about her injuries.
“The female with the stab wounds was transported to the emergency room where she was treated and later released,” Powers said.
