PIERRE – Gov. Dennis Daugaard announced Friday that Brookings has been chosen to be South Dakota’s Capital for a Day on Tuesday, July 18.
“I look forward to the Brookings event, and thank community leaders for offering to host it,” Gov. Daugaard said. “It’s an excellent opportunity for me to become better acquainted with the people of Brookings and the issues affecting their area.”
The governor’s activities for the day will include a Main Street walk, business tours around town, and a community social and coffee hour. The Governor will also hold a roundtable for community leaders to meet and discuss the needs of the city.
“We feel honored to host South Dakota’s Capital for a Day. Brookings looks forward to involving the governor, first lady and his staff in sharing our challenges and positive direction,” said Mayor Keith Corbett. “Brookings has made great strides in economic development, infrastructure improvement, and regional collaboration. We will illustrate how Brookings cherishes and grows dreams!”
An agenda will be released at a later date, according to the City of Brookings’ website.
