BROOKINGS – On March 6, the Brookings Police Department will present the opening session of its Citizens Police Academy.
For 10 weeks, class attendees will receive information and instruction on such issues as use of force, defensive tactics, criminal investigations and patrol techniques. This program is not an accredited certification course to become a sworn police officer.
Here is a unique opportunity for members of the public to get a “glimpse behind the badge” of law enforcement and the Brookings Police Department. Classes will be held every Monday evening from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
To apply for this free seminar, complete the application found at http://www.cityofbrookings.org/DocumentCenter/View/524 and email it to Lt. Justina Diamond at jdiamond@brookingsleo.org or stop by the Brookings Police Department and pick up an application today.
“Enrollment is limited, and we look forward to you participating in the law enforcement experience with us,” Diamond said.
The mission of the Brookings Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy is to educate the citizens of Brookings and gain their acceptance and cooperation through training and building partnerships.
