BROOKINGS – The City of Brookings has announced Erick Rangel as Brookings’ first chief financial officer. Rangel will begin his duties on Jan. 15, according to a press release from the city.

Rangel coming to Brookings from American Airlines in Dallas

BROOKINGS – The City of Brookings has announced Erick Rangel as Brookings’ first chief financial officer. Rangel will begin his duties on Jan. 15, according to a press release from the city. 

Rangel has worked at American Airlines in Dallas for the past six years, where he held different roles including senior analyst for international and domestic sales strategy, alliances and partnerships manager, and the last three years as a principal in the finance corporate development group. 

Prior to this, he worked in the manufacturing and IT finance groups at Reynolds American, and he was also an operations manager for SYPYSA prior to enrolling in business school.

Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, Rangel earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering at the Tec de Monterrey, and a Master of Business Administration at the Darden Business School in Charlottesville, Virginia.

City Manager Paul Briseno said he was honored to announce Rangel as the city’s first CFO. “Erick brings with him a diverse background that will assist the organization and community in attaining our goals. We welcome him to Brookings and invite him to bring his dreams.” 

Rangel said he is excited about the opportunity to help improve the experience of the residents of Brookings as well as to become a member of the community.
