Citywide Scavenger Hunt set for Aug. 26

BROOKINGS – The Brookings newcomer program, Beyond Connections, will host a “Welcome to Brookings” event with a Citywide Scavenger Hunt at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26.

The goal of the event is for new residents to learn more about Brookings and network with others.

Participants will start at Café Coteau inside the Children’s Museum of South Dakota, where they will receive a list of clues that will guide them to various attractions throughout the community. They will be asked to take a photo of themselves in front of each location, and the first group to complete all of the clues correctly will receive a prize.

“This event is so much fun, and it’s a great way for new residents to discover all that Brookings has to offer,” said Stacy Aesoph, Brookings Economic Development Corporation director of workforce development and event organizer. “This is the third scavenger hunt we have hosted, and we continue to receive positive feedback about the event.”

Beyond Connections is a workforce development program of BEDC created to bring people together to welcome new residents, network and build relationships.

The event is free of charge and open to all ages. Registration is not required.

Those interested in participating in the Citywide Scavenger Hunt can contact Aesoph with questions at sta-cy@brookingsedc.com or 697-8103. For more details about the Citywide Scavenger Hunt, visit www.liveinbrookings.com/live/newcomer or the Beyond Connections Facebook page.
