The event will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, April 26, at the Boys & Girls Club at 1126 Southland Lane in Brookings (enter through the green admin doors nearest the middle school).
Youth Mental Health First Aid is an eight-hour course that teaches adults assisting young people with a five-step action plan to offer initial help to young people showing signs of mental illness or in crisis, and connect them with the appropriate professional, peer, social or self-help care.
A young person you know could be experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis. You can help them. Anyone can take the course, but it is ideally designed for adults who work with young people, ages 12-18.
Teachers, coaches, faith leaders, social workers, parents and other caring adults are encouraged to attend. Training meets requirements for Suicide Prevention Education Credit for South Dakoita Teachers.
The training is free. Register at https://ymhfa42619.eventbrite.com.
