BROOKINGS – Two people were injured in a one-car rollover involving deer on Friday, according the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident was reported about 6:40 a.m. Friday and occurred on 471st Avenue, about a half mile south of 205th Street north of Brookings, said Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring.

Mariluz Corado-Delarosa, 20, of Brookings, was driving a 2001 Chrysler Sebring north on 471st Avenue when two deer came out of the west ditch, Sebring said.

“She swerved to miss the deer and entered the east ditch where the vehicle rolled,” Sebring said.

Corado-Delarosa and passenger Landin Christian Rosas, 16, of Volga, were transported to the Brookings hospital by the Brookings Ambulance with unknown injuries, Sebring said.

Corado-Delarosa was issued a citation for no valid driver’s license, Sebring said. The Chrysler is a complete loss, he added.

The accident is under investigation with the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
