BROOKINGS – The Downtown Brookings Business District Committee of the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce gave $500 to Teen Challenge of the Dakotas in honor of Giving Tuesday, a nationally recognized day that encourages individuals to give back in any way they can.
Teen Challenge was chosen for the donation based on the hours they spend during winter months clearing sidewalks for the downtown small business community.
Teen Challenge of the Dakotas is a faith-based, Christ-centered addiction recovery organization for adult males 18 years and older.
Committee member Kelly Odegaard said, “It was an honor to present a check for $500 to show our appreciation to the founder of Teen Challenge of the Dakotas. They keep our downtown sidewalks clear of snow in the winter. Giving Tuesday is a great opportunity to show some love to your local business so we can make a difference in the community.”
