BROOKINGS – The Brookings Arts Council will exhibit the works of Dr. Matthew James in its main gallery from Wednesday until March 1.
James’ collection, Golf: From an Artistic Lens, showcases golf through a variety of art pieces. The multimedia exhibition of artwork and design was inspired by golf’s history, culture, landscapes and people.
As a golfer, James has traveled all around to follow the sport he loves.
“The sport of golf and its culture has been rooted in my life since I was a young child,” he said. “At the same time in my youth I was drawn to art. These interests met, bonded, and have held a strong influence in my life ever since.”
The exhibit will feature print, oil painting, graphite pencil sketching, digital print, three-dimensional modeling, watercolor and golf course architecture representation.
A reception for James’ exhibit is from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday with James giving an artist presentation at 5 p.m. Refreshments and snack will be provided.
The Brookings Arts Council, 524 Fourth St., is open from noon-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
