OMAHA, Neb. – Maya Hansen scored on an assist from Karlee Manding in the 17th minute and Eden Brooker added a goal in the 30th minute as South Dakota State beat Omaha 2-0 in a Summit League soccer match Sunday afternoon at Caniglia Field.

Maggie Smither made three saves to extend her league- and school-record shutout total to 28. She made three saves and has 263 in her career – six off the school record.

“I loved the start to the game and felt like we broke down a very organized Omaha team with a great run and setup from Karlee to Maya,” SDSU coach Brock Thompson said. “The second goal from Eden was a great finish, and then it felt like we got a little casual and careless the rest of the way.

“I do want to mention Darian Poelstra’s performance, as she was incredible over the weekend for us. She played 90 minutes in both matches in the midfield and really steadied our team when we needed it.”

The Jackrabbits broke the school record for consecutive shutouts with nine and came within a win of the overall wins streak (10).

SDSU and UNO both took nine shots. The visitors held a 5-3 edge in shots on goal.

South Dakota State (11-3, 3-0) is host to Western Illinois on Friday at 6 p.m. and Purdue Fort Wayne on Sunday at noon.
