BROOKINGS – A Brookings man was injured in an accident north of the city Wednesday and is facing numerous charges, according Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring of the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
Francisco Javier Gonzalez Garcia, 42, of Brookings, was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer westbound on 201st Street near 469th Avenue about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control of his vehicle on the gravel road, entered the south ditch and collided with the culverts, Sebring said.
“The driver was treated and released at the scene by the Brookings ambulance and Bruce First Responders,” Sebring said.
The Explorer was deemed a total loss.
Sebring said Garcia is being charged with DUI, no valid driver’s license, open container in a motor vehicle, no insurance, substitution of license plates and careless driving.
