The South Dakota State Medical Association held its annual leadership conference in Sioux Falls on June 1.
Dr. Debra Johnston of Brookings, above, was given the Young at Heart Award. The award is presented to a physician who has inspired young physicians as a mentor, role model and leader.
Dr. Richard Holm of Brookings, below, received a special award for public service from the Seventh District Medical Society. The award was given in recognition of his longtime efforts providing evidence-based health and medical information to South Dakota’s citizens. Holm received the award from outgoing SDSMA president Dr. Robert E. Van Demark, Jr.
Dean Krogman, below, chief lobbyist for the SDSMA, was given a special SDSMA Special Presidential Award. This award is chosen by the SDSMA president to recognize the recipient’s contributions to the medical profession.
Van Demark presented the award to Krogman.
