BROOKINGS – Bill McKibben, author and The Schumann Distinguished Scholar in Environmental Studies at Middlebury College, will deliver the 2021 Harding Distinguished Lecture Webinar at 7 p.m. Tuesday. 

Named to the inaugural list of the world’s 100 most important global thinkers, McKibben is an author, educator, environmentalist and co-founder of 350.org.

His talk is titled “Our Changing Climate: A Global Movement of Reform” and will be available on Zoom. The lecture is scheduled to last approximately an hour, which includes a question-and-answer session. One can attend by visiting https://sdstate.zoom.us/j/95281957681.

McKibben’s latest book, “Falter,” examines not only environmental challenges but also the ethical dilemmas posed by new technologies, including artificial intelligence. He has published 18 books and hundreds of articles in a wide variety of publications. McKibben has received numerous awards – including the Right Livelihood Prize (the “alternative Nobel”), the Gandhi Prize and the Thomas Merton Prize – as well as honorary degrees from 19 colleges and universities. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

He wrote “The End of Nature,” which has been called the first book on global warming for the general public.
