BROOKINGS – Darwin Tolzin, far left, and Roger E. Hansen, fifth from left, receive a check from South Dakota State University student-athletes Mike Daum, third from left, and Skyler Flatten, fourth from left.
Also pictured are Connie Johnson, coordinator for Veterans Services, and Russ Chavez, director of Veterans Affairs at SDSU. Hansen is the commander of VFW George Dokken Post 2118, and Tolzin is the adjutant/quartermaster.
The funds were the proceeds from auctioning the men’s basketball military appreciation jerseys. That auction was held following an 82-62 win over Western Illinois, Feb. 17, 2018.
Chavez and Johnson said the Veterans Affairs Resource Center chose Post 2118 for its assistance throughout the year.
