BROOKINGS – Retired Brookings County State’s Attorney Clyde Calhoon, left, and South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley, right, presented the 2017 Brookings Optimist Club “Law Enforcement Award” to Brookings Police Lt. Derrick Powers, a 22-year veteran of the force. The presentation was made Tuesday morning, during the Optimists’ annual Respect for Law breakfast. The lieutenant was cited “for distinguished and dedicated service advancing the respect for law.”
